Last year, in a stunning report, Amnesty International showed that American woman were dying at alarming rates when compared with other childbearing women in the world. Here is an update on that report. The problems with American women dying during and after childbirth are mostly preventable. It is a multi-faceted problem. Where do we start?
Way to go Vermont!
Vermont is way ahead of the rest of the states! Recently they passed a law requiring insurance companies including Medicaid to reimburse for midwifery services in homes, birth centers, and hospitals.
